Directly from my Dublin correspondent :P, GianPaJ, a quick tutorial on how to connect your iPhone/iTouch to any hotspot or public Wi-Fi network without typing the login details every time:
If you have an iPhone(or iTouch) and use a wireless network somewhere probably you’ll have to type manually a login and a password (even guest login) every 5 mins you’re not using the internet.
In my college in Dublin (DIT->www.dit.ie), it has been bothering me for while. I even thought on writing an app specifically for my college or finding a browser that will allow me to remember my login details.
Well, until iPhone OS 3.0 is out (in which Safari should be able to store passwords), you can pay to download this app(i know, but if you know what to look for you can get it ;) ) called "Easy Wi-Fi" and add your college details or any other login account, and it will store your info, so that when you launch it, it will automatically login into your wireless network login page, and go on Internet.
If your college hotspot or public Wi-Fi network is not in the list available from the app, you can simply submit it (https://my.devicescape.com/member/new-service.do) to the developers and they will easily put it up available in few days.
To add your hotspot, you need to use a computer with wireless then connect to the public wireless network you want to add to the app. When you are on the login page, simply save the html page in your pc and the success full page (the one appears after you login) too.
Usually in that page there is the logout button or function to disconnect. If there is none, browse to the page where you can find such button to logout, and save that html page as well.
Done that, you simply need to go their web site, register and attach all the pages you have saved on the submit form, so the developers can analyze the pages and provide the app with the proper information so that you can automatically login with "Easy Wi-Fi"
Once you have done this, the name of your college hotspot or public Wi-Fi network will appear (after few days; you will get a confirmation) in the app drop down menu, so that you can select it and store your user and pass.

Se possiedi un iPhone(o un iTouch) e ti colleghi spesso a connessioni wireless, probabilmente devi loggarti manualmente (inserendo user e pass) ogni 5 minuti che non usi internet.
Nel mio college a Dublino (DIT->www.dit.ie), questo mi ha infastidito per un po' di tempo. Ho addirittura pensato di scrivere un app specifico per il mio college o cercare un browser per iPhone, che mi permetta di non digitare le mie credenziali ogni volta (che io sappia, cio' non esiste ancora).
Dunque, finche' il sistema operativo dell'iPhone 3.0 non esca (in cui Safari dovrebbe permettere di salvare le password), puoi comprare questo app (lo so, ma chi capisce capisca ;) ) chiamato "Easy Wi-Fi" e salvare le tue credenziali del wireless della tua università o qualsiasi altro account. Questo app in pratica ti permetterà di loggarti automaticamente ogni volta che lo apri ed andare su Internet (sui forum di devicescape indicano come permettere all'app di rimanere sempre vigilante di reti wireless salvate).
Se l’ hotspot della tua università o la connessione Wireless pubblica non si trova tra la lista (molto grande) gia' disponibile sull'app, puoi semplicemente richiedere di aggiungerla sul sito (https://my.devicescape.com/member/new-service.do) (in inglese) e trovare il hotspot nell'app in pochi giorni.
Per aggiungere il tuo hotspot, avrai bisogno di pc col wireless, quindi dovrai collegarti alla rete che si vuole aggiungere. Dopodiché bisogna andare alla pagina dove si effettua il login, salvare questa pagina web come un file html, e anche la pagina che indica che il login e' riuscito a buon termine.
Di solito in quest'ultima pagina si trova anche un bottone per scollegarsi. Se questo non appare, bisogna recarsi nella pagina dove vi sia tale bottone e salvare anche quella pagina web.
Fatto tutto ciò, basta andare nel loro sito, registrarsi e inviare le pagine web salvate nel loro form, in modo che gli sviluppatori le analizzino e salvino tutte le informazioni necessarie affinché "Easy Wi-Fi" riconosca il tuo hotspot e ti permetta di loggarti automaticamente.
Dopodiché, il nome dell’ hotspot della tua università o la connessione Wireless pubblica apparirà (dopo pochi giorni; riceverai anche conferma) nel menu a tendina dell'app, in modo che si possa selezionare e poi salvare le credenziali.
